Inspect an OQL schema

Call the backend schema method with the ICP CLI. Summarize each entity, primary key, field type, allowed value, and declared edge.

Run a filtered query

Using the current schema, build and run a read-only query for [entity]. Filter by [condition], select [fields], and limit results to [number].

Calculate grouped metrics

Build and run an OQL query that groups [entity] by [field]. Calculate [aggregate] for [measure], sort descending, and return [number] groups.

Analyze related entities

Answer [question] across [parent entity] and [child entity]. Use dotted paths when possible, otherwise batch parent keys, paginate, and summarize verified results.

Read and cache the schema before building queries, then use its exact names, field types, allowed values, and edge declarations.
Set an explicit limit, inspect hasMore, and paginate with increasing offsets until the requested result set is complete.
Use server-side filtering and aggregation, then select only the fields needed for the answer.

避免

Do not guess entity names, field names, literal types, or relationship paths when the schema provides authoritative values.
Do not omit the result limit or fetch every row when filtering and aggregation can run on the canister.
Do not issue one query per parent key; collect keys and use a single membership filter.

It supports canisters that expose the documented read-only schema and execute methods and return the expected Candid result shape.

Does this skill modify canister data?

No. It documents query calls to the schema and execute methods and does not cover update calls.

Why must I read the schema first?

The schema defines valid entity names, field types, allowed values, primary keys, and edges required for correct queries.

How are relationships queried?

Use dotted paths for declared forward edges. For reverse relationships, collect parent keys and query the child edge with membership filtering.

How does pagination work?

Set a limit and offset, inspect hasMore, and increase the offset until the requested rows are complete.

What happens when a query is invalid?

The canister traps without a structured error envelope. Correct the entity, field, type, JSON, or Candid escaping, then retry.
