# Build Interactive 3D Machine Explainers

Static diagrams make moving mechanisms difficult to understand. Teardown combines interactive 3D models, synchronized readouts, and recorded tours in a reusable production workflow.

## Capabilities

- Bundle simulator code, fonts, and styles into offline HTML pages with optional external model assets.
- Provide V8 engine, Cessna landing gear, and Jansen linkage examples with live and film variants.
- Connect mechanism motion to numeric readouts, charts, camera views, and cutaway controls.
- Capture deterministic frames, individual stills, review sheets, and MP4 video through Chromium and FFmpeg.
- Generate timeline-synchronized procedural audio and master stereo WAV output with loudness and peak controls.
- Create waveform images and review sheets from rendered media for visual and audio checks.

## Use Cases

- Explain Mechanisms in Class: Adapt a bundled machine to let students inspect motion, cutaways, and matching numeric readouts in an offline browser page.
- Produce Technical Demonstration Videos: Record a deterministic mechanism tour, generate synchronized sound, and inspect review sheets before exporting a demonstration video.
- Prototype Interactive Product Explanations: Use reference dimensions to build an interactive mechanism model with subsystem controls and coordinated charts for stakeholder review.

## Prompt Templates

### Explore a Bundled Example

```
Build the bundled V8 live example as offline HTML. Report the output location and any missing dependencies.
```

### Customize a Mechanism Lesson

```
Adapt the bundled landing gear example for a classroom lesson. Keep readouts linked to actuator stroke and preserve camera and cutaway controls.
```

### Create a Reference-Based Machine

```
Build an offline simulator of [mechanism] using [references] and [dimensions]. Separate kinematics, geometry, controls, and rendering; identify missing measurements before implementation.
```

### Produce and Review a Recorded Tour

```
Record [simulator] at 60 fps with synchronized procedural audio. Generate timeline review sheets, inspect every tile, and report measured loudness and unresolved defects.
```

## Limitations

- New machines require reference material, dimensions, and custom modeling code; arbitrary mechanisms are not generated automatically.
- Setup requires Node.js dependencies and Chromium; video and audio workflows also require FFmpeg and Python.
- GPU performance varies, and the examples use a fixed 1600 by 900 overlay scaled to fit the viewport.
- Caption rendering and contact-sheet path handling have unresolved security risks; recorded-sample decoding also uses a hardcoded Windows FFmpeg path.

## Best Practices

- Start with real references and dimensions, then derive motion and displayed values from one shared mechanism model.
- Keep frame rendering deterministic and use the same timeline for camera actions, review frames, and audio events.
- Review generated frame sheets and final media, test integrated GPU performance, and use trusted configurations until security issues are fixed.

## Anti Patterns

- Inventing mechanism dimensions or animating gauges independently from the geometry.
- Using nondeterministic frame updates and assuming live playback will match captured output.
- Accepting untrusted caption configuration or path-like contact-sheet names before the reported security issues are fixed.

## Security Audit

- Audited at: 2026-10-31T14:11:31.477\+00:00
- Summary: No evidence found of keylogging, credential theft, or prompt injection in the reviewed context; most alerts match benign syntax and metadata. Confirmed risks include URL-controlled caption injection and unrestricted recursive deletion through the contact-sheet name. The 394 omitted static matches remain unreviewed and require manual review before automatic publication. Static review was capped at 400/794 representative findings; omitted static matches are unconfirmed, so automatic publishing stays disabled until manual review.
