# Plan and Review Family Travel Films

Travel footage often lacks a clear story, reliable source notes, and organized feedback. This skill combines scene-planning guidance with local cataloguing and limited video helpers.

## Capabilities

- Create planning workspaces and guide scene outlines, confirmed context, personal voiceover drafts, preferences, and timecoded feedback.
- Catalogue local media with SHA-256 hashes, relative paths, scan errors, and optional ffprobe metadata.
- Generate video-only FCP 7 XML from explicit shot plans with validated paths and frame ranges.
- Render silent straight-cut MP4 previews after checking source dimensions, frame rates, and frame counts.
- Measure export decoding, black frames, freezes, and audio loudness through FFmpeg without rewriting the export.
- Probe Resolve and guard XML imports by requiring an explicitly named, empty, currently open project.

## Use Cases

- Shape a family trip into scenes: Catalogue a holiday folder, identify meaningful events, and develop one scene with confirmed memories and open questions.
- Prepare a silent picture sequence: Turn inspected source ranges into a technical shot plan, then generate a silent preview or video-only XML for further assembly.
- Coordinate versioned review: Record timecoded comments, protected material, verification coverage, and project status before handing revisions to another editor.

## Prompt Templates

### Start with one scene

```
Use family-travel-editor to check planning prerequisites and help me outline one scene from [trip]. Ask only for missing footage and workspace details.
```

### Catalogue selected footage

```
Catalogue [footage folder] into a new report in [separate workspace]. Report failed, skipped, and uninspected files, then suggest questions for planning [scene].
```

### Prepare a picture preview

```
From inspected ranges for [scene], prepare a technical shot plan and validate source compatibility. Generate a versioned silent preview without modifying originals.
```

### Review a protected revision

```
Resume [workspace] using its status, preferences, and selected feedback for [version]. Define authorized changes, preserve protected tracks, and report verified changes separately from untested work.
```

## Limitations

- Viewing, listening, transcription, and model analysis depend on the agent environment; the skill does not bundle these capabilities.
- Bundled timeline and preview helpers omit audio, titles, effects, and transitions, and support only integer 24, 25, or 30 fps.
- Preview sources must match dimensions and frame rates; mixed-rate, rotated, or otherwise incompatible footage needs separate normalization.
- The Resolve bridge targets Studio on macOS, but native import, playback, and export remain unvalidated; other editors lack bundled native adapters.

## Best Practices

- Keep originals separate from planning workspaces and use new versioned output names.
- Inspect candidate ranges in motion and confirm memories before writing narration or selecting final cuts.
- Record the exact export hash, review coverage, unresolved questions, and explicit author acceptance.

## Anti Patterns

- Treating metadata, transcripts, or contact sheets as proof that footage has been fully watched or heard.
- Presenting a silent preview or generated XML as a complete film or verified native editor project.
- Uploading family media, purchasing services, or publishing a film without explicit authorization.

## Security Audit

- Audited at: 2026-10-29T17:00:18.947\+00:00
- Summary: All 33 static findings are false positives involving local media tools, temporary fixtures, workspace initialization, installation guidance, SDK loading, or Markdown formatting. The reviewed files contain explicit source-preservation and publishing-authorization boundaries. No evidence found of prompt injection, credential theft, or intentional data exfiltration.
