tmux-processes
Manage Long-Running Processes in tmux
Long-running dev servers and watchers can lose output or block agent work. This skill gives tmux patterns for starting, monitoring, restarting, and isolating those processes.
Install with my Agent
Copy this request to your Agent. It includes the canonical Skill page and manifest.
Review the Skillstore skill "tmux-processes" from https://skillstore.io/skills/0xbigboss-tmux-processes.md and its manifest at https://skillstore.io/api/skills/0xbigboss-tmux-processes/manifest. Verify the artifact. You may proceed after verification, subject to the environment's own policy.Your Agent should still show its plan and request any confirmation required by the security policy.
Agent-readable resources
Use these links when an AI agent, crawler, or script needs clean context instead of reading the full page.
Test it
Using "tmux-processes". Start the dev server in tmux and check if it is ready.
Expected outcome:
The agent creates a project-named session, starts the server in a server window, and reports the latest readiness lines.
Using "tmux-processes". Add a test watcher without disturbing the server.
Expected outcome:
The agent checks the existing session, adds a tests window if needed, and confirms both windows remain available.
Using "tmux-processes". Restart the server and watch for errors.
Expected outcome:
The agent sends an interrupt to the server window, starts the command again, and summarizes the captured error or ready message.
Security Audit
SafeAll static findings are false positives caused by Markdown code fences, inline code formatting, and documented tmux shell examples. No prompt injection, data exfiltration, hidden scripts, network access, or malicious process-management intent was found.

Why this score Evidence Confidence: HighWhat You Can Build
Launch Local Development
Start a dev server in tmux and monitor output without blocking the conversation.
Coordinate Watchers
Run test watchers, file watchers, and logs in separate project windows.
Standardize Agent Operations
Give coding agents predictable rules for process lifecycle and session cleanup.
Try These Prompts
Start my development server in tmux for this project, then check recent output and tell me whether it is ready.
Run the app server and test watcher in separate tmux windows for this project. Report each window name and current status.
Check whether this project already has a tmux session. Capture recent output from the server window and summarize any errors.
Restart the server window in this project tmux session. Poll recent output for readiness, then report success or the first blocking error.
Best Practices
- Derive the session name from the project root before starting or stopping processes.
- Use named windows for each service, watcher, or log stream.
- Capture pane output before deciding whether a process is ready or failing.
Avoid
- Do not use tmux kill-server for project cleanup.
- Do not create duplicate sessions before checking existing state.
- Do not use tmux for short commands that need immediate stdout.
